From Effort to Ease
For most of your career, your success was measured by growth and acquisition. In retirement, the metrics change. Success is now measured by the reliability of your income, the protection of your purchasing power, and the time you get back.
We help you navigate this shift with a strategy designed for longevity and peace of mind.
The Three Pillars of Retirement Stewardship
The Income Architecture
We do not simply pick stocks. By structuring your assets to generate consistent cash flow, we aiming to ensure your lifestyle remains funded regardless of market fluctuations or global headlines.
The Inflation Shield
A retirement that lasts thirty years must account for the changing value of a dollar. We manage your portfolio to grow alongside the cost of living. This protects your independence for the long term and ensures your legacy remains intact.
The Custodial Safety Net
Transparency is our baseline. Your funds are never held by us. They stay in a trust account in your name via NZX Wealth Technologies. You have total visibility and institutional grade security while we provide the independent advice.

“I founded Earnslaw Goodlight because I saw too many New Zealanders receiving advice shaped by sales targets that were not about their own family’s future.
Retirement should be the simplest part of your financial life. We are here to make sure it is.”

Frequently Asked Questions about Retirement Planning
Is my money safe with Earnslaw Goodlight?
Yes. We prioritise security through a custodial model. We never personally hold your funds. Your assets are held by NZX Wealth Technologies in a trust account in your own name. You have total visibility and institutional grade security, while we provide the independent advice.
How do you handle Farm Succession Planning?
We act as the financial bridge between generations. Our role is to work alongside your existing legal and tax professionals to create a financial structure that supports both the retiring generation and the incoming one. We ensure the transition from the land to a liquid portfolio is handled with precision.
What are your fees?
Transparency is a pillar of our firm. We charge a straightforward 1 percent per annum fee on funds under management. There are no hidden commissions, no entry or exit fees, and no conflicted incentives. Our minimum investment is typically 150,000 dollars. This ensures our interests are perfectly aligned with the long term growth of your capital.
Why should I choose an Independent Advisor over my bank?
Most New Zealanders receive investment advice from bank-affiliated firms that are beholden to corporate targets and in-house products. This creates an inherent conflict of interest. As an independent firm, we have no products to sell. We are free to select the best investments for your specific needs without any external pressure.
Do you offer Ethical or Socially Responsible options?
Absolutely. We specialise in portfolios that support sustainable and ethical businesses. We believe your capital can achieve strong returns while also reflecting your personal values. For every 75 million dollars we manage, we also work toward providing a home for a New Zealand family in need through the Goodlight Project.
What happens at the 30 minute coffee?
This is a no obligation introduction. It is a chance for you to share your story and for us to see if our approach to stewardship aligns with your goals. There is no jargon and no hard sell. It is simply a conversation to determine the best path forward for your legacy.
